"Choral work with a clear signature"
and strong luminous power"
Katharina von Glasenapp, NEUE Vorarlberger Tageszeitung, January 2026

"An unconventional blend of old and new seems to be Jakob Peböck's trademark. This was recently evident at a concert by the state youth choir VOICES, which he conducts, and a similar approach was taken on Friday evening in the chapel of the "Stella" university, when the young rising star introduced himself as the new lecturer for choral singing."

presented."

Anna Mika, Kronen Zeitung, January 2026

"Jakob Peböck's musical direction proved to be thoughtful and unifying. He shaped the participating choirs into a cohesive ensemble that balanced precision and expression."

"Vocal diversity
at the highest level"

Mysterious Voices, December 2025

"(...) but the main focus is on Jakob Peböck, who leads the choir with clear and inspiring body language. As always with Voices, "Mysterious Voices" is a multifaceted Gesamtkunstwerk, a total work of art that guides the listener through the mysteries of vocal music and shows in a refreshing way how much joy singing in such a community brings. Hats off to such a fantastic rehearsal effort and performance."

"A treasure trove
full of surprises"

La Cenerentola, Bregenz Festival 2025

"(...) The original men's choir was transformed in this production into a vocally and playfully brilliant eight-member ensemble, made up of former members of the youth choir "Voices" – including its conductor Jakob Peböck."

"exceptional sound culture"

"(...) singer and conductor Jakob Peböck led the choir members with striking and expressive gestures, acting in a motivating and stylistically assured manner. It was obvious that he and the singers were on the same wavelength, and this was evident in all interpretations of the works."

A homogeneous choral sound also characterized the interpretation of Sergei Rachmaninoff's famous work "Bogoroditse Devo." The beautifully shaped crescendos, in particular, possessed a serene and serene quality. In the traditional "Wade in the Water," the choir drew attention with its dynamic, undulating movements, which they modulated as a sonic continuum with sophisticated chromatic lines. The choir unfolded the polyphonic texture of Carlo Gesualdo's "O Vos Omnes" with remarkable clarity.

The highlight of the evening was the performance by the State Youth Choir of Jakub Neske's "Mironczarnia." The interplay of rhythmic patterns, the Polish-language recitation of Miron Białoszewski's poem, the intricately nuanced melodic lines, the expressive soprano voices in their high registers, and Sara Hörburger's rigorous choreography all made a powerful impression. (...)"

"To express joy"

"(...) The two tenors, David Lins and Ralf Gisinger, as well as the baritone Jakob Peböck and the bass Lukas Müller, all sang with excellent intonation and individual timbre. The high art of barbershop singing lies in shaping the harmonically closely spaced melodic lines with the greatest possible homogeneity of sound and balanced vocal delivery. With admirable flexibility, the Five Gold Rings shaped the four-part harmonies and unfolded the final phrases typical of this vocal art with great relish. (...) The singers appeared relaxed on the outside, but the performances gained their musical momentum from great precision and precise musical contact with one another. (...) The audience expressed their appreciation with enthusiastic applause for the entertaining and musically impressive concert evening."

"High-level barbershop"

"Tickets for the barbershop concert sold out shortly after going on sale. And the audience was not disappointed. They experienced an entertaining musical extravaganza, featuring top-notch hits, evergreens, and musical melodies, performed with verve, wit, and professional stage presence. (...) Above all, the four musicians impressed with their brilliant voices, dynamic power, and clear articulation. They presented barbershop at a high level and met the audience's high expectations right up to the much-appreciated encore, a Swedish folk song."

"A joyful look into the future"

"(...) With Jakob Peböck as conductor, the state youth choir Voices looked to the future. The educator and choir director has already made a name for himself in recent years, and he also proved highly convincing as the Voices' musical director. Jakob Peböck conducted with great physical energy and striking gestures. His remarkably steady leg position exuded confidence. All these qualities provided the best possible foundation for the performance of the Finnish song "Armottoman Osa" by Mia Makaroff. The rhythm, shaped by the language itself, and the flow of sound, which built from tranquility to a virtuosic crescendo, left a lasting impression. (...)"

"The top performers of the season"

"(...) Voices, the region's young elite choir, were the season's biggest hits on Wednesday, receiving a standing ovation from an audience of enthusiastic fans and friends at the AmBach cultural center, which had been completely sold out for weeks. (...) Egle's vision has borne fruit; he knows his project is in the best hands with his experienced successor, Paul Burtscher, and his up-and-coming partner, Jakob Peböck. (...) Jakob Peböck is every bit as talented; with the Swedish "Trilo," he envelops the hall in a cloud of vocal sound. African chants recall the summer encounter with the Bochabela Strings at the festival, a pleasantly romantic and vibrant men's choir under Burtscher brings nostalgic energy, and Peböck provides a contrast with the brightly voiced Bulgarian women's choir "Ergen deda." "Songs from the barbershop"

"How do you combine fun entertainment with top-notch modern vocal artistry to create a thoroughly enjoyable evening? Quite simply. All it takes is a male vocal quartet that is currently shaking up the country's singing scene with their a cappella barbershop style, a style relatively unknown in these parts. The four lively lads call themselves "Five Gold Rings," even though there are only four of them, and on Tuesday, with their program "A Barbershop Christmas," they transformed the packed Saumarkt into a cauldron of energy, earning standing ovations for the second time in just a few days. (...)"

"Captivating musical entertainment"

"The Vorarlberg State Youth Choir VOICES has shaped many music and singing enthusiasts. A men's quartet has also emerged from the choir, causing a sensation in the state's singing scene. David Lins, Ralf Gisinger, Jakob Peböck, and Lukas Müller sing a cappella in the barbershop quartet Five Gold Rings, bringing the sophisticated American style of singing to Vorarlberg. Their barbershop Christmas concert packed the Saumarkt Theater to capacity. The audience experienced a performance of admirably high musical quality and cheerful entertainment with a cabaret-style touch. (...)"
